About Our Founder: David Waters

David Waters brings over four decades of distinguished law enforcement experience to Armed Officers Protection Services (AOP).  His career began in May 1978 and has been marked by consistent advancement and a commitment to excellence in public safety and security.

Career Progression:

• Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office: Rose through the ranks from Deputy to Captain
• District Attorney’s Office: Served for approximately 5 years
• Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office: Advanced from entry-level to Major

Leadership Experience:

Throughout his career, Mr. Waters has commanded several critical divisions, including:

• Uniform Patrol Division
• Criminal Investigation Division
• Office of Professional Standards (Internal Affairs)
• Narcotic Division
• Special Services Section

Education and Training:

Mr. Waters has pursued continuous professional development, receiving specialized law enforcement training across seven states: Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, Nevada, Arizona, New York, and Kentucky.

Notable Achievements:

• Graduate of the 122nd Administrative Officers Course at the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville, KY
• Extensive certifications from Georgia Peace Officers Standard and Training Counsel (P.O.S.T.), including advanced courses in Law Enforcement, Supervision, Management, and Executive Management
• Specialized training in areas such as Dignitary Protection, Internal Affairs, Criminal Psychological Profiling, and Major Case Investigations

Significant Contributions: 

• Negotiated the first active shooter situation in Georgia at South Forsyth High School
• Participated in and assisted with command of the last two Freedom Marches in Forsyth County, GA
• Provided Dignitary Protection for U.S. citizens in international locations including Rome, Florence, Dublin, and the Bahamas, as well as in Las Vegas, Nevada
